Welcome to the Midnight Blue Trek, proudly supporting Trek2Health.org.au and the start of Queensland Mental Health Week. This trek is a controlled group-oriented walk capped at 100 participants and will take place on Saturday night, 9th of October 2021 at 2300 and will follow the current COVID-19 safety Guidelines. The Midnight Blue Queensland Police Service event will be hosted and conducted by Trek2Health, the meeting place for this event will be The Trek House at 1434 Waterworks Road, The Gap. Please park at The BCC Park ‘n Ride Bus station car park, The Gap and walk 40 metres to the Trek House to collect your registration entry bib and your high-vis vest. Event crew will be onsite at 2300 and the private bus charter will leave at 2330 for Samford Valley, all participants will be provided with a trek handbook with the registration confirmation email, this booklet will explain all aspects of what to bring for this overnight trek.
There will be a small service at Samford Valley and a safety briefing before we commence our long journey to the Trek House at Enoggera Reservoir for a 0530 -0545 arrival, followed by a breakfast and coffee with presentations from Mental Health experts and acknowledgement of the top fundraisers. When participants arrive at the departure location, they will receive an entry bib, facemask Bandana and a high-vis vest.
The route taken consists of a 18.5km walk via country streets onto remote fire trails towards Bellbird Grove for our first rest stop, we then commence our long climb up to Mt. Nebo Road. We will then continue in a easterly direction along very steep descending and ascending fire trails down the southern side of Mt. Nebo Road, we are almost home along southerly tracks that will take us to the Trek House by 0515 - 0530 to meet family and friends.
The event will also have Event crew support staff - who have operated in the area and ranges for over 15 years, should you need water or support. PLEASE note that this walk is a controlled paced trek and we will be walking as one group at 3.5km to 4.5km per hour. The group must stay in between the front trek leader and the rear trek leader at all times. Medical professionals will be roaming the route in 4x4 vehicles.
TREK2HEALTH is hosting this fundraising trek event as it important to support those who have sacrificed their physical and mental well-being for a safer community. Trek2Health is an organisation founded with a single, noble objective - provide ongoing support to First Responders and Emergency Services personal such as police officers, firefighters, EMTs and veterans in our communities. The trek is a great way to get in touch with the Australian spirit, get some exercise and support a great cause.
Please note: The Midnight Blue Queensland Police Service Trek is a QPS community fundraising event for QPS and direct family members ONLY. The entry fee is complimentary to register and capped at 100 participants. It is expected and required that all participants open an individual ($250.00 per person) and/or team fundraising page, which can be completed during the registration process. The minimum expected amount to raise is $250.00 per person. We are here to help you achieve or exceed your targets. Each donation to your fundraising page of $50 will receive one entry to the Trek2Health Art Union. Trek2Health has commissioned a recognised international artist to complete her version of the Australian spirit called - "The Messenger", which will be the first prize in the Art Union, along with an Anaconda Gift Card ($600) or outdoor adventure & sporting gear. Optional: you can choose to donate to Trek2Health Art Union when you register for this trek to be in the prize draw yourself. Please note that donations from you and your sponsors need to be verified and the ticket will be emailed to you or your sponsor within 1-3 days.
Individuals who raise funds over $500.00 will be rewarded with an official TREK2HEALTH wilderness jacket.
